Arrangements that have taken over from Community Area Forums

Area Partnership Boards/Area Public Forums

A local area forum

The Community Area Forums have now been replaced by new arrangements, which came into force following the Council's Annual General Meeting in May.

Knowsley Council's Community Area Forums were a valuable opportunity for residents to come along to a local venue and meet with council officers, local councillors and people from other organisations.

The Knowsley Partnership wants to improve services at neighbourhood level, with improvements being driven by a closer relationship with local communities.

The new approach will improve consultation, action planning and delivery at local level.

Knowsley, as a borough, has improved a great deal over the past 20 years. The economy has strengthened and public services are making massive investments here.

We need to make sure that our local neighbourhoods and communities benefit from this. In order to do this, we need to:

- have a more focussed Partnership approach at local level

- give local communities a clear role

- ensure services are more effectively targeted

- produce real and lasting improvements

- strengthen local accountability

The Neighbourhood Pride teams are already set up in each area of the borough - Knowsley is split into six areas, North and South Huyton, North and South Kirkby, Halewood and Prescot/Whiston/Knowsley Village/Cronton.

Area Partnership Boards, consisting of partner agencies, and are being set up in each of these areas, and an Area Public Forum will also be established for each area. These will be open meetings for local people and those with an interest in that particular area.

This new way of working is taking place now in Halewood, with the knowledge and experiences gained being used to inform the roll out in the other areas of the borough.

More information about the new arrangements is detailed on the attached link. Wide consultation on this new approach has happened in every part of the borough, and with partners. Click below to find out more.
