Halewood
Halewood Pride - Working Together is now set up at New Hutte, Lichfield Road and getting results. It involves many different agencies, all with an interest or providing services within the area, working together to a common goal - that of making Halewood a better place in which to live.
These new changes have enabled a better response to local priorities, which may be different from one area to another, delivering value for money services and actually listening to residents and involving them more.
As well as staff from the Council and partner organisations, local residents, businesses and councillors are all helping to make real, sustainable differences. Residents are also being asked to help pinpoint areas in Halewood that need to be targeted so real improvements can be made.
The chair of Halewood Area Partnership Board is Councillor Dave Smithson, and the Area Relationship Director is Ken Harrison.
Some of the achievements for Halewood so far are:
- fly tipping and overgrown shrubbery have been cleared
- a three week intensive co-ordinated environmental clean up campaign in each ward
- 'model beat' by police dealing with outstanding warrants and drugs busts
- a drop-in centre with a police presence has been created
- alleygates have been erected
- chicanes, A-frames and trip rails have been set up to deter scrambler and quad bikes from gaining access
- official encorcement letters to properties with overgrown shrubbery have been issued
- residents now have incident diaries to keep a log of anti-social behaviour
