North Kirkby

The Area Partnership Board for this area, which involves many different agencies all with an interest or providing services, work together towards a common goal - that of making this area a better place in which to live.

The Chair is Councillor Ray Halpin, and the Area Relationship Director is John Ghader.

The move towards a focus on specific areas and neighbourhoods has seen the establishment of area bases, a move away from the current centralised system. The North Kirkby base is being developed.

These new changes have already enabled a better response to local priorities, which may be different from one area to another, delivering value for money services and actually listening to residents and involving them more.

Current priorities for this area include the Tower Hill regeneration, new school proposals and reducing anti- social behaviour.

As well as staff from the Council and partner organisations, local residents, businesses and councillors are all helping to make real, sustainable differences. Residents are also being asked to help pinpoint areas that need to be targeted so real improvements can be made.

Some of the achievements for North Kirkby so far are:

- alleygates being erected to deter anti-social behaviour

- clean ups and litter picks, especially the ITV challenge

- Section 30 Notice, a blitz by police on anti-social behaviour resulting in a 385 reduction in crime in Northwood

- new allotment site

- regeneration of Tower Hill started

- tackling scrambler bike nuisance
