Prescot, Whiston, Cronton & Knowsley Village

The Area Partnership Board for this area, which involves many different agencies all with an interest or providing services, work together towards a common goal - that of making this area a better place in which to live.

The Chair is Councillor Lorraine Donovan, and the Area Relationship Director is Deb Lee.

The move towards a focus on specific areas and neighbourhoods has seen the establishment of area bases, a move away from the current centralised system. The Prescot and Whiston bases are being developed.

These new changes have already enabled a better response to local priorities, which may be different from one area to another, delivering value for money services and actually listening to residents and involving them more.

Current priorities for this area include the new build at Whiston Hospital, retail and leisure developments, new school propsals and the M62 juntion at Windy Arbour Road.

As well as staff from the Council and partner organisations, local residents, businesses and councillors are all helping to make real, sustainable differences. Residents are also being asked to help pinpoint areas that need to be targeted so real improvements can be made.

Some of the achievements for Prescot, Whiston, Cronton and Knowsley Village so far are:

- fly tipping and overgrown shrubbery have been cleared

- successful 'model beat' by police and partners dealing with outstanding warrants and drugs busts, and running a community event

- transformation of Willow Avenue

- alleygates have been erected at various sites

- Spookies wood has had a facelift

- chicanes, A-frames and trip rails have been set up to deter scrambler and quad bikes from gaining access
