South Kirkby

The Area Partnership Board for this area, which involves many different agencies all with an interest or providing services, work together towards a common goal - that of making this area a better place in which to live.

The Chair is Councillor Bill Brennan, and the Area Relationship Director is Steve Stewart.

The move towards a focus on specific areas and neighbourhoods has seen the establishment of area bases, a move away from the current centralised system. The South Kirkby base is being developed.

These new changes have already enabled a better response to local priorities, which may be different from one area to another, delivering value for money services and actually listening to residents and involving them more.

Current priorities for this area include Kirkby Town Centre, the sports centre developments and new school proposals.

As well as staff from the Council and partner organisations, local residents, businesses and councillors are all helping to make real, sustainable differences. Residents are also being asked to help pinpoint areas that need to be targeted so real improvements can be made.

Some of the achievements for South Kirkby so far are:

- extending gardens to encompass pathways to deter anti-social behaviour

- alleygates, chicanes and A- frames to help with community safety, and restrict illegal use of scrambler bikes

- clean up days
